After over 2 decades in the business I’ve seen more than a handful of kitchen and design trends that had me scratching my head (think bleached oak, “wrapped” cabinets and tile counters…grout lines get dirty!) but there are some really attractive and functional design trends and materials emerging that make a loads of sense and are economical to boot! High end finishing paints that allow one to recast dated but otherwise perfectly good cabinets, mixed metals and woods that are interesting and don’t necessitate replacing all the fixtures, etc. And not to dispute the wisdom of the author but I have to admit I still love me some dark wood!
